NextDrive, the Taiwan IoT company, is going to participate in 2019 Computex from May 29th to
31st, exhibiting The Next Generation of HEMS (Home Energy Management System) in InnoVEX’s
D0523 Booth in Taipei World Trade Center Hall1. Since NextDrive launched its HEMS solution,
Ecogenie and Cube, last year, NextDrive has collaborated with lots of Power and Energy-related
company in Japan.
In this year, NextDrive advances its core product, Ecogenie, and launches a new function that
makes your home-battery automatically store solar power and electricity in lowest TOU (Time of
Use) rate. Through ECHONET Lite, the standard communication of HEMS and smart home
appliances, Ecogenie enables users to schedule when to charge and discharge the battery based
on users electricity plan, day-to-day consumption patterns, and next day’s weather forecast,
charging battery with the minimum electricity bill.

Schedule when to charge and discharge the battery
This function is to satisfy the demand for home-battery energy arrangement. Due to the upcoming
expiration of solar power purchase contract, or FIT (Feed-in Tariff), the power company will no
longer purchase solar power at a favorable price. The sale price of solar power will decline from 48
Japanese yen to 10 Japanese yen per kW, which lead these users to intend to buy a home-battery
to store solar energy to the battery during day time, which in turn can be used to supply household
at night. However, most of home-battery are not able to schedule when to charge and discharge the
battery based on the electricity plan, day-to-day consumption patterns, and next day’s weather
forecast. As a result, home-battery might can’t provide enough electricity for household at night.
Cube-The core in your smart energy life
To solve this problem, NextDrive upgrades its HEMS solution, Ecogenie and Cube, that not only
can monitor electricity generation statistics gathered from solar PV generation system, but also
integrates EcoCute, Electric heat pump water heater.
Through integrating solar panel, battery, and EcoCute, Ecogenie enables users to schedule when to
turn on and off of each and every equipment, providing you a total solution for energy saving.

CEMS (Community Energy Management System)
Despited of HEMS, NextDrive is also committed to building a CEMS (Community Energy
Management System) in the future.
Through managing household electricity demand and surplus, Ecogenie maintains the balance of
electricity supply and demand of the community, which paves the foundation for regional smart grid
in realizing decentralizing power generation and virtual power plant (VPP).
When there is an oversupply of solar energy, Ecogenie will sell the excess electricity to community
batteries or electric vehicle charging stations. When electricity is in short supply, it can be sold back
to the power grid through batteries and EV chargers.
Ecogenie enables users to easily trade electricity with each other, creating a community with no
waste of electricity.
